System Safety Engineer: 

Engineer critical control systems from concept definition through production supporting product engineering team, providing safety process-specific knowledge. Develop safety requirements for the assigned system. Employ varied analysis techniques including hazard analysis, system element fault analysis, interface analysis, FMEA, FTA as applicable. Establish safety requirements traceability to design and validation activities and support engineering teams though the product development life cycle. Collaborate with design responsible teams to ensure that the safety requirements will be adequately met. Create and maintain documentation to show evidence of the system meeting requirements. Conduct safety peer-reviews as required by the project

Required Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of major automotive subsystems
  • Good understanding of the vehicle development process
  • Experience working with embedded control systems in automotive or similar industry
  • Experience working with serial communications in embedded control systems
  • Working knowledge of ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 or MIL 882 standards
  • Experience working with software safety diagnostic monitors
  • Hands-on experience with Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and other safety analysis tools and techniques
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
